KIEV, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine is not ready for the membership either in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) or the European Union (EU), Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said here on Wednesday.

"At the current stage, Ukraine has no chance to become a member of the EU and NATO," Klimkin told reporters during a joint briefing with visiting Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelson after their talks.

At the same time, Klimkin voiced his hope that Ukraine would be able to complete the reforms required for bidding to join the alliances in the future.

For his part, Samuelson stressed that the fight against corruption is one of the key reforms which needs to be implemented by Ukraine.

"The establishment of the anti-corruption court is the key task. It will ensure that all anti-corruption institutions can work together," Samuelson said.

Over the past four years, Ukraine has strengthened its cooperation with the EU and dialogue with NATO, but neither organization has promised Kiev near-term membership prospects.

Samuelson arrived in Kiev on Tuesday for a three-day working visit.
