        1. Bulgaria's agricultural producer price index falls 4.7 pct in Q4

          SOFIA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Bulgaria's producer price index in agriculture in the fourth quarter of 2017 decreased by 4.7 percent in comparison with the same quarter of 2016, the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI) said Tuesday.

          The crop output index dropped by 7.5 percent year-on-year, as prices of cereals went down 1.8 percent, industrial crops down 13.8 percent, fresh vegetables down 9.2 percent, potatoes down 15.5 percent and fruit down 6.0 percent, NSI said.

          Higher were only the prices of fodder crops, which jumped 39.8 percent, it said.

          On the other side, the prices of livestock and livestock products went up in the country, with the biggest increases seen in the prices of cattle, which was up 13.8 percent, cow milk, up 29.6 percent, and eggs for human consumption, up 29.2 percent, it said.

          Meanwhile, the index of prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the fourth quarter of 2017 eased by 2.0 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, NSI said.

          The prices of energy and fuels rose by 2.9 percent, fertilizers by 9.6 percent and plant protection products by 6.2 percent. However, the prices of seeds and planting stock dropped by 2.2 percent, veterinary medical products by 4.3 percent and animal feed by 1.0 percent, it added.
