KHOST, Afghanistan, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani went to the eastern Khost province on Monday to inaugurate key development projects and meet local people and officials, said the Presidential Palace.

The palace said in a statement that the president during his stay in the relatively peaceful province will inaugurate "Khost Airport runway, power station for delivering electricity to 13,000 families in Khost and number of infrastructure projects."

During the trip to the province bordering Pakistan, Ghani will also hold separate meetings with religious scholars, tribal elders, teachers, provincial council members, women, youth, civil society and business community as well as district governors.

Earlier this month, the Afghan leader traveled to the neighboring Paktia province and opened a 220-KW power line and a 220-KW sub-station to provide electricity for thousands of local families.
