CAIRO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Prosecutor General ordered on Wednesday four officials to be held in custody pending further investigations over bribery charges.

The prosecution accused the four officials, already arrested on Tuesday, of receiving bribes up to two million Egyptian pounds (about 112,000 U.S. dollars) from major suppliers of food commodities to help secure orders and facilitate payments, state-run MENA news agency reported.

The four officials busted by the Administrative Control Authority included the supply minister's adviser and the head of Food Industries Holding Company, a state-run company responsible for importing food commodities.

Egypt has launched a massive anti-corruption campaign over the past few years that led to the arrest and imprisonment of officials and senior employees as well as retrieval of large amounts of public funds.
