NEW DELHI, July 6 (Xinhua) -- A passenger train derailed in the western Indian state of Maharashtra Friday, railway officials said.

One coach of Madurai Express came off tracks at Khandala railway station, some 125 km from state capital Mumbai, early Friday morning.

"No casualties were reported as the express train was travelling at a low speed while entering the station," according to one senior railway official.

The derailment led to the cancellation of four trains in the region, another railway official, Sunil Udasi, told the media.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.

Train disasters are common in India as much of the colonial-era rail infrastructure is out of date. A number of people are killed in train accidents, mostly derailments, across the country every year.
