SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, July 12 (Xinhua) -- At least 13 people were injured Thursday after a vehicle carrying them collided with a goods truck in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The accident took place near Birma Bridge in Udhampur district, about 200 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"This morning a vehicle carrying pilgrims to Amarnath shrine collided with a truck near Birma Bridge on bypass here, injuring 13 of them," a senior police official posted in Udhampur told Xinhua over telephone.

"The injured were immediately shifted to district hospital and the condition of two is said to be critical," said the official.

Deadly road accidents are common in India often due to overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.
