SYDNEY, July 27 (Xinhua) -- An intense fire that broke out at a two-storey building in Chinatown in New South Wales state capital Sydney during lunchtime on Friday was extinguished in about an hour with no casualties reported, authorities said.

More than 30 firefighters and six fire trucks were deployed to the downtown blaze on Dixon Street at about 12:40 p.m. and put it out by 2 p.m., a state fire and rescue services spokesman told Xinhua.

"It was an intense fire but it was quickly dealt with by our firefighters," he said.

There were no reports of any casualties or evacuations at the commercial premises.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, he said.
