LAGOS, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian military has secured a train from gunmen's attack in the northern state of Kaduna, and information on casualties is being collected, a government official said late Monday.

In a statement, Samuel Aruwan, state commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said the government received multiple reports of an attack on a train conveying passengers from Abuja to Kaduna.

"Relevant action agencies were urgently contacted, and robust deployments of personnel were swiftly made to the area to secure the passengers on board," he said.

The injured have been rushed to hospitals and other passengers are being transferred from the location, said the official.

"Security forces continue to comb the area for additional rescue efforts," Aruwan said, adding the public will be informed of any progress in the investigation. ■
