TOKYO, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Friday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight and on hopes the inter-Korean summit would lead to further productive talks.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 148.26 points, or 0.66 percent, from Thursday to close the day at 22,467.87, marking its highest closing level since Feb. 5.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.10 points, or 0.29 percent, to finish at 1,777.23.

Tokyo stocks advanced from early trade owing to a solid showing on Wall Street overnight with U.S. shares propelled by a raft of upbeat corporate earnings, brokers here said.

Market analysts also said market sentiment here was also lifted by the inter-Korean summit held Friday and hopes for future moves towards a more peaceful Korean Peninsula.

Gains were capped however by investors opting to take profits after the market's recent gains and those securing profits ahead of a three-day weekend here, local traders observed.

Real estate, information and communication, and land transportation-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play, and falling issues beat rising ones by 1,019 to 983 on the First Section, with 81 ending the day unchanged.

On the main section on Friday, 1,882.12 million shares changed hands, rising from Thursday's volume of 1,520.37 million shares.

The turnover on the final trading day of the week came to 3,314.4 billion yen (30.32 billion U.S. dollars).
