CHICAGO, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) futures posted sharp losses on Tuesday morning with soybeans falling more than five percent over escalating trade tensions.

As of 1438 GMT, July soybeans were down 47.25 cents at 8.6125 dollars per bushel while July wheat was down 19.5 cents at 4.705 dollars and July corn down 9.5 cents at 3.465 dollars per bushel.

China is the top buyer of U.S. soybeans. A spokesperson of China's Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday that if the United States loses its rationality and unveils another list of Chinese products for additional tariffs, China will have no choice but to take comprehensive measures combining quantitative and qualitative ones to resolutely strike back.
