YANGON, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's by-election campaign by participating political parties starts on air on Monday, Myanmar News Agency reported.

The country's by-election is scheduled for Nov. 3.

The campaigns by political parties will be broadcast on state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) from Sept. 3 to 26 for the first time, while the second time will be on Oct. 9 to Nov. 1 and will also be covered by state-owned newspapers.

There is a total of 13 vacant parliamentary seats -- four with the House of Representatives (Lower House), one with the House of Nationalities (Upper House) and eight with the state parliaments available for the by-election.

Myanmar's ruling party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), has elected its candidates to compete for all vacant seats in the upcoming by-election, which is the second by-election during the incumbent NLD-led government.

In the first by-elections in April 2017, the ruling NLD won nearly half the number of then open parliamentary seats.

In the last general election on Nov. 8, 2015, the NLD won an absolute majority of parliamentary seats.
