BANGKOK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Several parts of Thailand have been hit by forest runoffs and floods as rivers burst banks and more rains are expected, reports said on Wednesday.

Central Thailand's Lopburi Province has been swamped by runoffs triggered by more than five hours of torrential rains since Monday evening. People in affected areas have to scramble to move their belongings to higher ground. Villagers were racing against time to build sandbag walls to brace for further runoff.

Ayutthaya, another province in central Thailand, is under threat of floods as local officers surveyed that Chao Phraya River's bank is facing a collapse. Wooden poles will be installed along the bank to temporarily stem the erosion.

In eastern Thailand, several villages in Prachinburi Province have been engulfed by mountain runoffs caused by downpours. Villagers are reportedly suffering under floods of 50 to 80 centimeters deep. Officials are dispatched to help people affected out.

Mudslides caused by mountain runoffs in northern Thailand's Nan Province have damaged houses and blocked roads since Monday.

Thailand's Temporary Crisis Center has ordered all provinces to prepare appropriate plans as more rains are forecast to hit the north, northeast, east and south later this week.
