BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- China published a white paper on Monday to clarify the facts about China-U.S. economic and trade relations, demonstrate its stance on trade friction with the United States, and pursue reasonable solutions.

The following is a selection of quotes by foreign observers and experts on the white paper.

Jin Jianmin, senior fellow at the Tokyo-based Fujitsu Research Institute:

"The white paper is right about globalization and the structure of U.S.-China trade and so on. The United States blames its own problems on globalization while failing to make sufficient structural adjustment."

Jon R. Taylor, political science professor at the Houston-based University of St. Thomas:

"While China produces a substantial white paper explaining its position on the trade war, the U.S. fails to offer anything close to a comprehensive explanation of its own position. Instead, we are treated to explanations that differ from day to day and from official to official."

Sourabh Gupta, senior fellow at the Washington-based Institute for China-America Studies:

"Its (the U.S.) attempt to re-write the rules of law and reason in its economic intercourse with China on the basis of unilateralism, protectionism and self-centeredness is an abdication of global public goods responsibilities and poses a grave threat to the international economic order."

Gamal Bayoumi, head of the Cairo-based Arab Investors Union and Egypt's former assistant foreign minister:

"If he (Trump) raises the motto of 'America First,' he has to know what really is in favor of America."

Yomn Hamaky, professor of economics at the Cairo-based Ain Shams University:

"This (Trump's) approach has many perils and its negative effects will not afflict the concerned countries alone but it will also harm the U.S. economy."
