DOHA, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- China came second in men's team qualifier while Chinese star gymnast Xiao Ruoteng led the field to enter men's all-around final at the ongoing world gymnastics championships held in Doha, Qatar on Friday.

In the men's team event, China settled for the second place posting 257.836 points to Russia's 258.402. The Chinese team's best performance on Friday was on parallel bars, where they amassed a massive 46.066 event total. Zou Jingyuan, the defending world champion on the event, posted a spectacular 15.800, the highest score yet at these world championships.

China's momentum was halted on pommel horse, where many of the gymnasts struggled. After falls from the first three gymnasts, Xiao salvaged the team total with a 14.633, the second-best score on the event.

Japan finished third behind China with a team total of 253.312. Two-time Olympic all-around champion Kohei Uchimura competed only three events after spraining his ankle last month.

The United States, Britain, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Switzerland also advanced to the men's team final taking place next Monday. It is the first world team final for the Dutch men's team.

The three medal-winning teams clinch team berths to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In men's all-around, Xiao qualified first to the final, posting 87.332. Russian Nikita Nagornyy (87.098) was second. U.S. gymnast Sam Mikulak qualified third, followed by Artur Dalaloyan of Russia, Chinese gymnast Sun Wei and Kenzo Shirai of Japan.
