NAIROBI, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay has made a rallying call for his team to beat Angolan side Petro Atletico to be able to progress to the last eight in the CAF Confederations Cup.

This comes just a day after the Kenyan champions were whitewashed in Alexandria 4-0 by their hosts Zamalek.

Oktay believes their fortune is firmly in their hands and that it's up to the players to exploit it and make history to reach Confederation of Africa (CAF) continental cup quarterfinals.

"It has been a hard cruise for our team in away matches. However, every loss makes you stronger," Oktay said on Monday.

"You find that you note so many weaknesses in your team whenever playing outside the country and you try to improve them. The more they play away from home, the more they improve themselves."

Gor Mahia will host Petro Atletico of Luanda on Sunday in Nairobi, while Zamalek will cross over to Algeria to meet Hussein Dey in another fixture of Group D.

Zamalek top the group on eight points, Petro Atletico are second on seven, same as third place Hussein Dey who have an inferior goal difference. Gor moved bottom of the group with six points following their loss.

Heading into the final round of matches, Zamalek will progress to the quarters with just a draw away to Hussein Dey in Algiers.

This result will be beneficial to Gor if they manage to beat Petro in Nairobi. Oktay said his side is going for nothing short of victory in next Sunday's encounter against Petro.

"We are going to give 100 percent in this game, nothing less, we have to," he insisted.

The team will have no time to rest even as they arrive in Nairobi on Tuesday morning from Cairo.
