          At least 11,400 people have been evacuated in Heilongjiang Province, northeast China, after severe rain, floods battered the area causing damage to crops, houses, roads.

          HARBIN, August 2 (Xinhua) -- Severe flooding caused by heavy rain in Heilongjiang Province, northeast China, has wiped out 79,130 hectares of crops, damaged 2,547 houses and caused estimated direct-economic losses of 2.17 billion yuan (about 315.14 million U.S. dollars).

          A total of 757,900 people in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province had been affected by the floods, with about 11,400 evacuated, the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters said Wednesday.

          As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, more than 30 trains operated by China Railway Harbin Group had been canceled and rail trips had been disrupted across the province, said the company.

          The water level of Ashi River in Heilongjiang has been above warning-level since Tuesday. Flood control support teams have been dispatched to the affected areas.
